Five and a half years after getting papped with her at that Xmas party and Jeremy can finally now acknowledge the existence of Lindsey German. #silverlining @STWuk @JeremyCorbyn & @Li...
Am old enough to remember when the BBC profiled JC and turned to his 'close friend' (I forget exactly how they described her) Lindsey for insights. Since then it's been a tad quiet for some reason but now the dynamic duo are off again.
Since I just got asked who Lindsey German is I guess I should reup a thing I wrote.
Turned out that the 'special international guests' at the Lindsey German and Jeremy Corbyn reunion were *drum roll*... Mark Weisbrot + Gabriel Rodriguez! Oh it's a small world.
Weisbrot and his CEPR outfit's reports have been debunked so often that it should be embarassing but somehow here he still is.
You can see the appeal. Weisbrot here, repeating the complete myth that unilateral sanctions are 'illegal', something that these folks managed to get amped by the former Labour foreign policy front bench.
Lots of mentions of sanctions at the German/Corbyn reunion. The sole mention of Venezuela was when Lindsey talked about sanctions then added "and of course in Venezuela." She makes plain her dislike of Nandy but doesnt attack her. No mention of Syria.
Gabriel Rodriguez talks a lot about Bolsonardo but not Ortega. Weisbrot plodded on about some IMF magic trick which is a big deal and the MSM won't talk about it. Corbyn didn't acknowledge Weisbrot at the end, as he did Rodriguez.
What Diane Abbott said about migrants and refugees I entirely agreed with. Image
Corbyn gave a shout out to 'refugees in Lebanon'. And specifically mentions Kashmiris, Palestinians and Yemenis. No Syrians.
He was making notes for acknowledgements but chose to not to acknowledge Weisbot. Image
Shout out to Lula, Correa and "those in Bolivia who are going through such difficulties at the present time."
He's very online now and was particularly pleased to have received a message of the Internationale sung by "spanish speaking people around the world" for May Day Image
I will say one thing about this which might annoy some, it was good to see two black women MPs there. Representation is always good. and that applies among the 5%(?) of the UK that has time for this sort of droning politics. Image
