The discussion on #marr about NHS contact tracing apps seems to have avoided the question about whether it will work with the new Apple-Google Bluetooth protocol, or not.
I can appreciate that feels “technical” but it relates to whether it will work properly or not.
#NHSX still insisting that the app can “work in the background” but also ignore the Apple-Google demand for ‘decentralised’ matching of contacts.
Hints at ‘workarounds’ in articles, but no actual explanations. Sounds fragile at best. And hardly ‘transparent’.
Meanwhile, Germany has flipped its position and abandoned “centralised” contact matching so it can leverage the Apple-Google API.
If Germany feels it is necessary, why does the UK think it can carry on regardless? #marr
