1. English is really hard. Could we use this time when kids are cooped up to mentor those moving into the key testing times of secondary education? Supervised by teachers & done with proper security, professionals who write for a living could mentor/tutor willing students
2. in writing. Teach them to write a coherent grammatically correct essay. Use their own lives story for the text. Give voice to millions of kids.

3. grad students allowed out. They were very helpful and kind but not skilled in polite deception. In my second year, the woman who was tasked with teaching me how to take Chinese dictation said to me, "Tim, your Chinese hand writing is excellent but your English is terrible."
4. English is really hard. Not just penmanship but syntax and grammar. I still struggle but have gotten better by working with those who write better than I.

5. then helped them learn how to write at a college level? One hour a few days a week might liberate a kid from a life's potential unfulfilled to become educators, managers, or, God forbid, more lawyers. 😎
