It’s important that people understand that the reported Covid deaths numbers we hear daily are much less robust than excess mortality.
If your country is not in our excess mortality charts yet, please help us locate the data that will allow us to add it 🙏

These charts will not disappear — the curves remain useful indicators of what phase each country’s outbreak is at — but due to our shift of focus I will no longer be publishing an update thread every night.

You can still see them here [ft.com/coronavirus-la…], and I will tweet these and others when we see significant developments, but given the ... varying ... quality of the data, it’s misleading to suggest that the picture changes meaningfully in a 24 hour period.
I’ll continue to share the most important, most insightful and most meaningful data and graphics we have on Covid, including the trajectory charts, but it won’t necessarily take the form of a nightly thread.
