Through countless conversations, I learned that loneliness was far more common than I thought and more consequential for our health, performance, and politics than I could have imagined. I also could never have fathomed it would even more relevant during the COVID19 pandemic.
I began seeking to address loneliness, but I ended up recognizing the extraordinary power of human connection to help us feel better, do better, and be healthier. TOGETHER is about how we can nurture a social revival in our lives and in our communities.
On a personal level, writing this book pushed me and challenged me in countless ways. It forced me to confront hard truths about myself and the world. Ultimately, it gave me more clarity about how I want to live, work, and contribute to society. I am so grateful for those gifts.
I hope TOGETHER will help us strengthen our relationships and recommit to one another. We have the power to create a people-centered society, where we put people first, strengthen social connection, and allow kindness and love to be our guiding lights.
