A spox for McCarthy indicates there won't be any picks on the way soon when telling me today that this is Pelosi's pursuit of "Impeachment 2.0"

Democrats made their picks for members of the Select Committee on the #Coronavirus Crisis today.

The GOP did not, balking at the very notion of a select committee as a redundancy with impure political motive.

Before I share my story, a note on select committees:

The basis of GOPs argument against this select cmte overseeing the federal response to the pandemic is that Congress already has enough watchdogs/oversight cmtes necessary to ensure there is no waste, fraud or abuse.

That's interesting because....

Rs formed the House Select Committee Benghazi to investigate the deaths of 4 Americans.
It cost $7.8M, active for 28 months.
A select cmte for the 9/11 terrorist attacks (with 2,500+ dead) ran for 19 months.

Rs also created a select committee to investigate Planned Parenthood.

Select committees are a thing.

Moreso a "thing" perhaps, when 60K+ Americans are dead and the treatment/vaccine to stem the death and destruction is far off.
