THREAD:

Arizona’s focus has been protecting public health and slowing the spread of #COVID19 with a calm, steady approach. We’ve been guided by the data and recommendations of public health officials. 1/
Physical distancing is working. We’re slowing the spread. We’ve made significant progress & can’t let up. That’s why I'm extending AZ's Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected Order until May 15. This is the right thing to do based on the data & information we have right now. 2/
We’re also continuing to breathe life back into our economy. We’ve seen our big box stores innovate; let's allow other retail to do the same. Starting next week, retail stores can begin to partially re-open with sanitation and physical distancing measures in place. 3/
Last week, we announced the ability for hospitals and outpatient surgical centers to resume elective surgeries.

Much like today’s announcement, our approach is to resume gradually, with assurances that these facilities have adequate supplies and PPE. 4/
When it comes to dine-in… we’re aspirational. Our goal is to open in May. We aren’t there today, but we want to start preparing. We’re looking at the data and we’re listening to the industry. More guidance to come. 5/
What to expect next:

We will continue to put public health first.

We will continue to take a step-by-step approach to reenergizing our economy guided by facts & health officials.

And we will continue to prioritize giving businesses and citizens time to plan and adjust. 6/6
