Just stop. You started with a conclusion and decided to look for data to fit that conclusion. That’s why you looked at a chart of confirmed new cases without any accounting for testing variation, reporting methods, or population size.
There is no one who can reasonably look at the data and suggest we are doing worse (or even nearly as bad) as most of Western Europe, which is the only place we can really compare to for several important reasons.
People who were predicting 0 divergence between New York and San Francisco a month ago should probably show a little more humility in their declarations about the quality of our response:
And the whole point here was for him to argue that only his preferred system of gov't could properly respond, which is undermined by overwhelming evidence that such systems fared much worse and even then our numbers are skewed by one city (NYC) with a disastrous outbreak.
