I see this claim is being spread. No, the CDC did not revise the death numbers down.
Data here ends on 4/25 and is based on death certificates reported manually so (as it clearly states on the site) lags behind other counts by additional 1-2 weeks. So it’s missing ~2-3 weeks.

If you look at the site tracking direct reporting from the states, it estimated around 39k on April 18th. So the data is consistent with ending on 4/25 and having an additional 1 week lag. That site now has the count at 65,886. 
And here is the CDC count which is updated daily, unlike the report w data ending on 4/25, with lab-confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths and shows latest number at 62k. cdc.gov/coronavirus/20…
