Saw a d20 fan account making a PSA that Annabelle Cheddar's age is probably in the 24-29 range and so we shouldn't ship her with the 18-year-old princesses and.

Leaving aside any kind of age gap discourse, I just like their crushes on her. They're fun, and good characterization.
Getting into age gap discourse... I feel like this shows the problem with fixating on ages? Legally yes we need objective cutoffs. But if you're going to moralize... the problem isn't the years, but the mileage. They're legally adults but are for practical purposes children.
Like, if you were okay shipping Annabelle with either of them when five minutes ago they were basically the Olson Twins plotting to run away to New York because their mothe is too strict and she's been through a wedding scandal and a succession crisis and high seas treachery...
...and THEN you find out that she's 6-11 years older than they are and you hear a record scratch and go, "Oh, these legal adults are different ages. I can no longer responsibly imagine a life together between this mature cheese woman and these baby licorice whips" something's off
At the same time, though... young and immature people pine for older people and people they see as more mature and worldly all the time. Which is part of how they can vulnerable to manipulation. But also why the crushes make perfect sense.
I don't have a judgment to offer on people who do ship them.

But I wonder how much people *are* shipping Annabelle with the princesses, vs. enjoying the princesses pining after her while also appreciating the hotness that is Captain Annabelle Cheddar?
(Also I wasn't in the fandom when it was new but was there this much angst and discourse about Emily's actually underage high school character impersonating an adult woman to carry on an affair with a doctor in Fantasy High season 1?)
Aaaanyway. As far as I'm concerned nothing that comes up behind the scenes is canon unless and until it's said at the table and because it's tabletop improv there's a chance it's not official even then. If you think Annabelle's more like 21 than 29, nothing's contradicted that.
I mean, the way D&D works is whatever the DM thinks they've come up with can be thrown out the window if they get a better idea or something else comes up or for some reason it no longer works. There's not a real Annabelle Cheddar somewhere with a set biography.
