Yesterday's event in #WestBengal

Today at around 2.00 p.m it came to the notice of certain people of our locality (Naktala, under Netaji Nagar P.S.) that two people (one of whom was a lady) dressed in complete PPE were taking out an unconcious patient from the back of an
ambulance (bearing registration number WB23D 9431) and placing him along with his belongings which included a nylon bag and few clothes on the footpath adjacent to the Allahabad Bank Naktala Branch and when asked as to why they were doing this, they accused these locals of
preventing them in their work and threatened to inform the police. When these locals along with some others in the adjacent buildings raised hue and cry I along with some other neighbours reached the spot and I personally asked the PPE clad people as to why they were placing the
patient on the footpath. Their reply was that they were engaged by the Lalbazar KP HQ to drop the patient at his relative's house at Naktala and that the patient had been released from the M.R. Bangur Hospital and since his residence was far away they had come to drop him at a
relative's house in our locality and it is when that relative refused to accept the patient the PPE clad were instructed by the authorities (not disclosed) to dump the patient on the footpath and go. There was one more person with them whom the PPE clad identified as the brother
of the patient though this person quietly disclosed to some of us that he did not even know the patient. I personally called the Netaji Nagar PS at least thrice and informed about the incident and I was told that they had already been informed about it by another neighbour and
that a patrol party would reach us soon. Seeing that the patient lay on the footpath showing no signs of life from the place where I was standing I questioned the PPE clad as why the patient was motionless and I was told that he was suffering from dehydration . I immediately
asked them to put the patient back to the ambulance and wait for the police to arrive . One of our neighbours even helped them to put the patient back to the ambulance and he said that the patient had high temperature and within a minute or so after the patient was put in the
ambulance the PPE clad drove off from the site . I again called the Netajinagar PS gave them the vehicle registration number and asked them to intercept the vehicle as it drove towards Tollygunge. The ambulance was not intercepted and the police finally arrived after another
call and almost 30 minutes after the ambulance had driven off. The local councillor however made immediate arrangements of santitising the area within minutes of calling her. But I strongly believe that these PPE clad must have dumped the patient somewhere else and driven off.
We don't even know if the patient was COVID +ve or if we need isolation. Our locality is yet to report one COVID positive till date but if patients are left on footpaths like this it won't be long before we all are affected. Are we to now set up a watch party in every locality?
Contacted the biggest telemedia house also but they seemed to be much busy and ignorant to feature this as a news item .
The videos / snaps taken by our neighbours are attached to this post for all to view.
