... I've worked in three fields - environmental science, genetics and experimental psychology which each have their own trigger phrases -

1. Is climate change man made?
kaboom.

2. Is creationism a science?
kaboom.

3. What do you think of MBTI?
kaboom.
... so no, I'm not the person with whom you want to have a chat on creationism, MBTI or "other causes" of climate change.

At least flat earthers and astrologists don't cause so much harm.

I cannot emphasise this enough. Start with understanding your landscape, put the doctrine in place and then ... and only then ... start messing around with org structure ->
ideally, you want nearly all the early phases of doctrine to be "Green" i.e. your organisation to be good at this and for that to be agreed fairly uniformly within the org before you start messing with pioneer, settler and town planner.
An org structure like pioneer, settler and town planner is not how you "fix" a broken company, it's how you take a highly effective company and push it that bit more towards a continuously adaptive system ... apply it to a "broken" company and it won't have any benefit to you.

Of course, servers and home grown private clouds will hang on in some organisations for a long long time .... well beyond their "use by date : Oct 2015" ... you should expect 25+ years of mouldy toxic death at the heart of some businesses. The last punch card system was 2011.
I prefer the term toxic IT rather than legacy IT.

If you've ever worked in a bank, then you know there are systems with which you feel you ned to put on a full hazmat suit before approaching.

X: Thoughts on China's education system.
Me : Not perfect but the Gov is focused on reducing inequality which is a positive sign, giving people opportunity.
X : Like the UK
Me : Nothing like the UK. Much of the education system is focused on reinforcing inequality in the UK.
X : What about Grammar schools?
Me : What about them? A mechanism of reinforcing social inequality which is Government funded.
X : But all able kids can go.
Me : That's mostly propaganda rather than reality. I know from personal experience both mine and others.
X : Not true.
Me : My kid scored in top 10 (not top 5% but top 10) of kids in Kent. But we live in Romney Marsh. There is no Grammar school. Nearest one is oversubscribed (acceptance is based on distance not ability) and the only one is 90+ mins away (no decent public transport)
