An appalling leader in The Times today managing to encapsulate why so many see its coverage of Muslim-related issues as misleading, insulting & not trustworthy.

Rather than judge issues on their merits, ideological convenience takes precedence

16 BAME groups represent (tens of?) 1000s of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Iraqi, Sudanese, Egyptian, Afghani, Syrian & other doctors & health professionals dying disproportionately on the front line.

The Times dismisses their voice.

Insulting.

The Times then blames @MuslimCouncil (as it's ideologically convenient to say it's the Muslims' fault) ignoring widespread concern.

Do @OpBlackVote, @RunnymedeTrust, @afuahirsch, @Influenchers, @SayeedaWarsi etc. (plus the frontline workers) not matter?
The Times then decides Phillips' degree in Chemistry at Imperial makes him suitable.

That's clearly a ridiculous assertion. Let's look at the evidence. Image
In The Times, he made the premature conclusion that Bangladeshi & Pakistani Muslims were no more at risk than the general population, ignoring the clearly important age differential.

He is wrong (acc. to @TheIFS & all analysts)

The Times then decides to claim that evidence of Islamophobia from Phillips derives from Rotherham.

We must be categorical here - this is an outrageous lie by The Times that *must* be corrected.

Where is the evidence for this disgusting lie? Image
It is disgusting that The Times is exploiting victims of sexual grooming cases in Rotherham for its own ideological goals.

It is appalling & hypocritical that The Times does not listen to the victims of racism when we explain our basis.

See this thread:
His core message echoes that of far-right Islamophobes (e.g. Tommy Robinson) on Muslims being:
1. Apart from rest of society
2. Dangerous e.g. can't foster Christian girl
3. Uniquely unwilling to integrate
4. Unwilling to report terrorism / sympathy with terrorists
It's dangerous Image
Apparently, this is all "nonsense" for The Times. In fact, it's even worse.

The Times states Starmer's call for engagement on the issue was because "he was trying to shore up Labour’s traditionally loyal Muslim constituency".

What an awful awful thing to say. Image
One wonders whether this would be acceptable to say of any other faith or racial group?

The Leader is an appalling indictment of The Times' approach towards Muslims, and unwillingness to act based on the merits of arguments when against its anti-Muslim ideological position.
I conclude as I have so often.

Do not trust The Times on Muslim-related issues.
