This framing is the worst. Every policy choice has consequences. Everyone knows re-opening will lead to spikes. The question is whether there is a benefit to re-opening that outweighs the cost of delaying such action.

TX isn't necessarily wrong in determining the answer is yes.
Using Sieger's logic, it's wrong for anyone to ever approve of a speed limit above 15 MPH bc higher speed limits are proven to lead to more car crashes. The whole framing suggests the only correct action is permanent lockdowns, which is dumb & contrary to all policy experts.
Point of the lockdowns, which have proven effective, was to try to limit the spread, improve treatment, and buy time for us to get more resources in place ("flatten the curve"). If TX feels they've accomplished that and can limit spikes with mitigation, then re-opening = right.
Where this comes into play. These reporters see a R doing something different than Dem Governors they like (though some Dems also re-opening) and presume it must be wrong. Then they just look for ways to justify the claim that it's wrong.
