#Hezbollah was founded in 1982 in Lebanon after the Ayatollah regime in Teheran was dissatisfied by the ‘Amal Movement’ - the already existing Lebanese Shiite armed militia >> Image
The Iranians needed a Shiite proxy in Lebanon (Shiites consist approx 30% of the Lebanese population) that’ll show loyalty to the Islamic Revolution and promote Iranian interests in the region >> Image
The first #Hezbollah terror attack was on April 18, 1983:
a suicide bomber driving a car bomb with 400 kg of explosives blew up near the US embassy in Beirut.
63 people were killed, out of which 17 were Americans >> Image
On October 23 of ‘83, #Hezbollah simultaneously blew up two truck bombs, one at the barracks of US marines and the other at the barracks of French parachuters.
305 people were killed that morning; 241 Americans, 58 French and 2 civilians. 41 people died later from injuries >> Image
On November 4 that year, a #Hezbollah suicide bomber drove a pickup truck filled with explosives into an Israeli military base in the city of Tyre.
60 people were killed. 28 Israelis and 32 Lebanese >> Image
In the period between September 1984 and February 1986, #Hezbollah kidnapped 12 Lebanese civilians from their homes in Beirut.
9 of them were executed.
All of them were Jews >>
In effect, this violent sprawl of terror ended in the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Lebanon.
In the 60’s, there were around 9,000 Jews living in Lebanon.
Since mid-80’s, only a few dozens are left >>
On June 14 1985, #Hezbolalh hijacked TWA flight 847 on route to San Diego. 153 passengers and crew were held hostage for more than two weeks until released.
One American passenger was murdered.

On December 25 1986, #Hezbolalh hijacked Iraqi Airways Flight 163 from Baghdad on route to Amman.
2 hand grenades were detonated on board causing the aircraft to crash.

During the period between #Hezbollah’s establishment in 1982, and June 1989, the organization kidnapped 55 foreign nationals on Lebanese soil. Many were murdered. In the photo, Col. William Higgins. Captured in 1988, held hostage and eventually murdered >> Image
On March 1 1992, #Hezbolalh terrorists made an attempt to attack a Synagogue at Istanbul. One person was injured.
A week later Hezbollah planted a bomb at an Israeli diplomat’s car at Ankara in Turkey.

On March 17 1992, #Hezbollah detonated a car bomb outside the Israeli Embassy in Argentina.
29 people were murdered, among them 3 Israeli diplomats -

On July 18 1994 a #Hezbolalh car bomb driven by a Lebanese suicide bomber exploded at the Jewish Community House in Buenos Aires, killing 85 people and injuring hundreds >> Image
On March 12 2002, 2 #Hezbolalh terrorists infiltrated into Israel from Lebanon and opened fire on random civilian vehicles.

On February 14 2005, former Lebanese PM Rafic Hariri was killed along with 21 others in an explosion in Beirut.
Although it never claimed responsibility, all evidence pointed at #Hezbollah >> Image
On July 12 2006, #Hezbolalh attacked an Israeli military patrol that was on the Israeli side of the border.
8 soldiers were killed.
2 soldiers were captured which gradually led to a full scale war with the IDF >> Image
During that war in the summer of 2006, #Hezbolalh launched 3,970 rockets and missiles at Israeli civilian population.
44 Israeli civilians and 12 soldiers were killed as a result. Thousands were injured >> Image
On July 18 2012, a #Hezbolalh suicide bomber blew himself up on a passenger bus transporting Israeli tourists at the Burgas Airport in Burgas, Bulgaria. The explosion killed the Bulgarian bus driver and five Israelis >> Image
In the past years, #Hezbollah has been heavily involved in the Syrian Civil War. Allied with Bashar al Assad’s regime and preserving Iranian interests, estimates are that the organization lost around 2,000 of its men in the Syrian war >> Image
On December 2018 the IDF uncovered an assault tunnel dug from Lebanon reaching its way near the Israeli town of Metula.
In the coming weeks 5 more #Hezbollah assault tunnels were uncovered.
