I'm informed that President Ramaphosa described the governing party as having been "down and out" and requiring intervention by the ancestors. Correct on 1st but wrong on the intervention. They Must just study Fit for Purpose via thabangjmotsohi.com

The ANC is like rotting carcass that is being eaten from the inside. The eating must be fast because others will finish it off. Look at how donated food for the hungry and the poor was hijacked in many place for selfish ends. That was a sacrilege.

The weak hold by @CyrilRamaphosa on the party as you now come to realize, attests to the theme of the article. SA will benefit immensely from this outcome.
This government lacks the capability to govern. They seem to love to rule by edict and eschew logic and a sense of purpose. This is the moment for Ramaphosa to reconstitute his cabinet by bringing in professionals. If the other faction resists and tries to
get rid of him, let it be. We need a constitutional crisis to catalyze a change of leadership that understands drivers of economic growth and what must be done to build a capable state. The post Covid-19 context is too complex for the current lot.

I have stated in my various OP-Eds and in my book Fit for Purpose that the incoming democratic government was fully aware of the extent of the debilitating inequities inherited from the apartheid state. A compelling obligation was to build a capable state.
But building a capable state could only be possible if the governing party was motivated by the highest possible level of consciousness for social justice. I now see a resurgent energy to urgently provide the secondary rights provided in the Constitution.
The sad reality is that it had to take the Coronavirus to re-kindle the level of consciousness that should have come naturally. It is a failure of humanity I will never understand.
