@PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 1/ Leading from the forefront has been the hallmark of Indian Army. Loss of CO does NOT disintegrate the battalion/unit - the next in line steps in and takes over. Pick up any war and look at the number of COs killed in action. All three COs at Namkachu were killed/captured in 62
@PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 2/ Lt Col Sampuran Singh, CO 19 PUNJAB led the battalion personally at Bedori in 1965. Lt Col NN Khanna CO 2 SIKH laid down his life leading the attack on Raja. Lt Col GS Sangha, CO 3 MAHAR received MVC for leading form the front at Chhamb in the same war.
@PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 3/ Lt Col PK Nandagopal CO 6 SIKH LI also got the MVC for personally leading his battalion at Kalidhar in 65. Lt Col Desmond Hayde, CO 3 JAT was a living legend, leading his battalion in the capture of Dograi twice in the same war, also got the MVC
@PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 4/ Lt Col AS Vaidya led Deccan Horse in the battle of Khem Karan and recd the MVC - rose to be the Chief. Lt Col Salim Caleb CO 3 CAV also won MVC in the same battle. Lt Col HL Mehta, CO 4 METRES died leading his battalion at Maharajke, and recd the MVC.
@PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 5/ Lt Col AB Tarapore CO POONA HORSE led his Regt and died fighting in his tank, was awarded the PVC. Lt Col MMS Bakshi, HODSON's HORSE died in Phillora leading from the front, recd the MVC.
@PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 6/ The list of COs leading from front is endless - more a norm than exception, through 1971, Kargil and CI ops. It's not an anomaly or a failure of command but a glorious tradition. It's the way we're brought up. So your contention isn't valid
