- A senior veteran wearing sidecap indicating his rank to a media event
- Another displays his old car flag prominently on the windscreen of his private vehicle.
We're all proud of our service in our glorious organisation. There are several dignified and accepted means.. .. of displaying these associations - regimental ties, lapels, crests on vehicles.
However these don't indicate rank.
Rising to higher ranks in the pyradimical org is definitely a matter of pride. While in service ranks accord deferential treatment.
Thus the trauma of.....

A friend's veteran father passed away last year due to Covid. Was shocked to hear of the harassment her octagenarian mother had to face in the hands of petty officials including a retired officer for processing some of her documents. First bad experience was at ECHS LODHI RD 2/ It took endless rounds to submit the claim documents. The woman at the counter was consistently sullen, rude and petty. She would come up with a new requirement every time and then insist she'd told the same last time & it's my friend who must have forgotten

@airtelindia @Airtel_Presence my daughter's SIM has just stopped working. The Airtel Store tells her that she can't get a new one with the same number!! How can you allow this to happen, specially since the number is linked to her account. Highly negligent service Firstly what is your accountability for the number stopping suddenly? Has it been hacked? What is the safety of her accounts? All the OTP etc come on that number.

#GalwanValley which has been in the eye of the storm was the backdrop for another standoff prior to the 1962 Indo-China War. It began in July 1962 when 400 Chinese soldiers surrounded the Indian post in the valley. India lodged a protest with China.... The Indian post with a strength of approximately 50 was besieged by a much larger Chinese force. India reiterated it's claim over #GalwanValley

@PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 1/ Leading from the forefront has been the hallmark of Indian Army. Loss of CO does NOT disintegrate the battalion/unit - the next in line steps in and takes over. Pick up any war and look at the number of COs killed in action. All three COs at Namkachu were killed/captured in 62 @PravinSawhney @cyrushavo 2/ Lt Col Sampuran Singh, CO 19 PUNJAB led the battalion personally at Bedori in 1965. Lt Col NN Khanna CO 2 SIKH laid down his life leading the attack on Raja. Lt Col GS Sangha, CO 3 MAHAR received MVC for leading form the front at Chhamb in the same war.

ECHS
The latest travesty in the ECHS saga. The vendor selected by MoD sourceinfosys.com for upgrading smart cards isn't porting data to the new system. Result - doctors having to manually retype medical history and prescription for each patient. This is taking anywhere..... between 15- 30 minutes per patient, leading to long queues.
Some questions that need to be asked -
1. Isn't data migration included in the contract?
2. If not, why? Weren't those drawing up the contract competent enough to evaluate scope of work?
3. If it is, why isn't it.....

1/Reactions to #HyderabadEncounter including my own got me thinking. Movies like Singham, Gangajal, Simbha, Shootout at Lokhandwala are hugely poplar and do well at box office. The rogue but good cop who fights the system including his own dept to deliver vigilante justice to... 2/.. those oppressed by the neta-criminal-cop nexus. Somewhere this theme touches a chord deep within us, as have the Hyderabad killings. The common person's belief in the system to deliver justice quickly is very low, and that's founded on the track record. Police reforms.......
