Looking at modelling numbers now, Dr. Henry says BC has seen a sustained decline in cases. There have been community spread though presenting challenges.
Every area of BC - whether lab confirmed or cases from people returning to BC.

Overall - most ppl in ICU are older - more men than women.
Younger though she says are not immune some in 20-30s needing hosp and ICU.
1/2 men over 90 dying only 20% of women over 90.

20% of those affected by the virus are health care workers.
Not necessarily just from working the front lines - could also be imported cases. Those who attended the dental conference (Mar 7&8) in Vancouver are included in this.

As was laid out with the last modelling, Dr Henry says men and those with chronic conditions taking the brunt of this virus.

What we've been doing right now is about 30% of normal contacts says Dr Henry. If we stay at about 40% we will keep our numbers low
Going up to 60% we'd see increase but manageable -- and there are ways to mitigate risk.

There is much we don't know yet henry says and it's not certain we can stop this we need to learn to live with it.
And we need to plan, prepare and monitor for possibility of second fall wave.

every interaction increases exposure
who in our house hold is at risk and how do we protect them
even 1 add'l person outside our bubble is bigger than we realize - it's everyone in their bubble - their work their family

This will not be a summer like anything we've seen before in BC says Health Minister @adriandix. For now physical distance is our best friend.

Going to 60% in the future from the 30% where we are/have been Dr henry says represents our wiggle room.
This means more connections with people or safer connections with people.
Smaller > better. Outside > inside

Re concerns people will push safety limits, Dr Henry says she firmly believes if people understand the ramifications of their actions & see where we are at & what difference distance vs contact will make that people make the right and safe choices.
