Today, I presented to the public, the 2019 Annual Report of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS (@nigimmigration).

2019 was a year of significant attainment for NIS. Excellent progress was made on implementation of a number of reforms in the area of Border Management, Passport and Other Travel Documents, Visa, Migration Management, Human Resources and Infrastructure.

-Persons Arrived (2,206,558) Persons Departed (2,537,966)
Total: 5,052,588

-Seaports: 7,518 Migrants
Land Borders: 1,379,459 Migrants
Airports: 3,632,993 Migrants

- Total Visas Issued in 2019: 130,319

- Total Passports issued in 2019: 1,198,274

Financial Report
▪ ₦62,610,229,859.50k revenue generated Locally
▪ revenue generation increased by 60% .
▪ Expenditure was ₦59,654,547,856.12 to service contractual obligations
with technical partners and service providers including taxes, levies and
charges.

▪ ₦2,955,682,003.38 Net revenue after deduction of expenditures as
against deficit revenue recorded in 2018
▪ 13% increment in Offshore Revenue generation i.e. US $41,823,635.56 as
against last year record of $36,909,415.00.

I encouraged officers of the Service to continue to keep criminally intentioned persons from our land. The vigilance of the NIS, more than at any time, is needed now. They must keep away from our territory those likely to harm us and attract to us only those that will do us good.

On #Covid19, I reiterated that as they protect the nation, they must also protect themselves, their families and the people working with them. The defender must not be defenseless!

Hygiene must be observed. The requirement of constant handwashing, face covering and social & physical distancing are safety imperatives at all times. They can only protect the nation when they themselves are protected; and they can only save others when they are not endangered.
