Hello and good morning; this is my LiveTweet thread for @github Satellite. githubsatellite.com is the livestream; let's get to it.
We're treated to a live-coding DJ set by Sam Aaron, who is under strict instructions to absolutely not play either Dave Matthew's Band "Satellite" or Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" for reasons which should be screamingly obvious.
This tweet thread is fake-sponsored by @JoeEmison of Branch Insurance. "You're going to royally f*ck Git up sooner or later; choose Branch Insurance."
And @natfriedman starts us off with a bit of a staged bit, but these are troubling times. I'll allow it.
I never realized before that @natfriedman had a slight speech issue: he mispronounces @github with a hard G and H, rather than the correct "Jith Ubb."

Good for him for not letting that hold him back!
Highlighting their recent price cuts, their iOS and Android apps (which are excellent), and of course bringing in those product placement dollars from @cheerios.
Rocking an @npmjs shirt, talking about their acquisition and what that changes. Mostly their bandwidth bill as I download 4 terabytes to build a static blog.
Talking about number of hours developers spend on GitHub, which is terrifying to me. My code work lives in GitHub repos, sure--but my time interacting with it is almost entirely through other tools that aren't the site itself. Am I weird?
Communities, Code, Enterprise, and Security are their four topics today.

Security was of course bolted on at the end as it always is.
Today launching @github Discussions which may be interesting for the Open Guide to AWS (github.com/openguides/og-…).

We've been using Slack for a while; join us at slackhatesthe.cloud
Talking about Codespaces. I'm all for making this stuff more accessible, truly. But if it doesn't work on an iPad it's got no chance in my workflow. I get it; I'm weird.
There's a @github live-thread for discussion at github.com/githubevents/s…, which works about as well as the @awscloud forums do. The model just doesn't work for this kind of event.
Code Spaces always installs your dotfiles from a specially named repository in your account.

Oh is that going to have some terrifying corner cases.
Getting insight into code review time, which is the most HackerNews thing ever. How on earth does monitoring how quickly it takes to blindly type "LGTM" and whack enter improve anything?!
Introducing @github Code Scanning. Security analysis engine integration. Listing a bunch of partner integations, all of whom have better pricing models than @awscloud CodeGuru's "per line of code" shithouse billing structure monstrosity.
"So @github Code Scanning is going to change the way you think about security!" #GitHubSatellite
Signed up for the @github Codespaces beta.
I believe it's a mistake for them not to explicitly highlight that this works on iPadOS. There's serious pent-up demand for this in some circles.

And that's the keynote! #GitHubSatellite
