I think a lot of people are getting some false optimism on reopening because #COVID19 has been primarily hitting communities of color. But don't get it twisted. What happens to black folks now hits everyone else later and whistling past the graveyard isn't a prevention plan.
Georgia's rush to reopen is going to expose a lot of white people to those black and brown service workers who are coming from neighborhoods rife with the disease. They'll carry it to Alpharetta and Roswell and Gwinnett County and those'll be your new hotspots.
The fact that, absent any real change in the variables, people are going from vigilant to apathetic is a huge problem. COVID is no less dangerous today than it was six weeks ago. The weather just got better and people just decided, arbitrarily, it was time to go outside.
