Scanning through the coronavirus gov doc - this is better. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/upl…
The government really should have published this before the PM made his statement yesterday, before all the anonymous briefings of the last five days etc
"continue" is pushing it, and the devolved reference rather amusing given what happened in the last few days.
So why did the PM make a statement yesterday that was meant to apply from today? Ok, turns out the workplace guidance may still be published after Wednesday, but this makes more sense.
I discover on page 28 that the over 70s have been freed. Bizarre we didn't hear this before.
The first sentence is questionable. But if true and the government wishes to be agile why are they simultaneously negotiating long term deals covering 70% of our trade where they hope to reach agreement this year?
Anyway, overall I just read this and wonder what on earth was going on in Number 10 since Wednesday. A reasonable enough plan badly briefed and communicated for a Sunday evening TV address? Plenty more questions though and now to see if the plan holds. /end
PS it says something about the quality of UK government comms that there is considerable confusion among replies as to whether the advice for over-70s is new or not. So much for doing their jobs too well...
