The @instituteforgov report on Brexit on which this Guardian story is based is pretty devastating on persistent UK government mishandling, which continues today, and stands alongside a brilliant earlier account from @xtophercook as a must-read.

Here's a short thread by one of the authors of the IfG report highlighting some key points.
This thread looks specifically at the handling of the Northern Ireland elements of Brexit.
The Brexit problems continue in different form as another thread today exposes...
Excessive secrecy, strange government structures, and an unwillingness to hear uncomfortable truths coupled therefore with suspicion of those expressing them continue to be problems in UK government Brexit handling. And now it has the coronavirus crisis to handle as well.
The effects of Brexit handling will be felt for years to come through business decisions and in Northern Ireland to name but two. I'd add that the gap in perception between the UK government (and many of the public) and those outside the country on handling is huge /end
