Let's continue the story...

The deity then hatched the egg, and somehow the hatched egg became a baby girl. She was given a name "Sang Srikandi". She grew up become a beautiful young girl. There was no one in the country to match her beauty.
This part is very well-known in the Sundanese oral literature. There is a Sundanese oral story called 'carita pantun', that also tells about this story, but off course with some differences. The title is Carita Pantun Sri Sadana, or Sulanjana.
We can find more Sundanese manuscripts contain the story of Dewi Sri in the later centuries. Most of them written in about 19th or 20th century. Written on paper, with Pegon (Sunda-Arabic) script or Latin, mostly entitled as Wawacan Sulanjana, Srisadana, or Wawacan Dewi Pohaci.
There are also "eastern" version of this story called Carios Udubasu, or Budugbasu. Several of them written in Javanese sript and languages.
I believe those versions were adaptation of older version such as the old Sundanese "Kawih Katanian" from the Ciburuy site.
The full reconstruction from this scattered old Sundanese manuscript is rather hard to me. But lets see the event when the Dewi Sri died. This is very typical for the story of the goddess of rice.
sapun sira dénéngucap·,
tucap Bagawat A(ng)gasri,
nyangcam samadya beurang,
ceurik samadya peuting,
ceurik ngaléa(h ngalangkub),
nyeueung inya kaperaan,
na Dayang Trusnawati,
tap dirawu tap dipangku,
saanggeus jadi laywan,
paéh di madyiapada,
basa ménta buah ngeunah,
after (s)he said (that),
It's told that Bagawat Anggasri,
so sad all day long,
crying all night long,
watching her dying,
it was Dayang Trusnawati,
then she was carried in his lap,
after (she) has become a corpse,
(she) died in the world,
when she asked for delicious fruit,
It is interesting that Bagawat is adaptation from Sanskrit word 'bhagavad'. The Bagawat Anggasri is the spiritual guru for Dayang Trusnawati, which is other name of Sang Srikandi or Dewi Sri in other folios.
Her death due to eating very delicious fruit. It reminds me of the story of Adam and Eve when eating the 'apple' in heaven, though.
At some time, when Bagawat Anggasri was doing meditation at the grave of Dewi Sri, a magical event occurred. Many kinds of paddy riceplant grown from the grave.
Paddy in the Sundanese language called 'paré', while the name of the variety is the next word. Here are the name of the paddies:

paré timbun from its hair,
paré keupak from its upper head,
paré hajeni from the eye brow,
paré salak from the eyes,
paré ? from ?,
(paré) †_† from its mouth,
paré hujan from the face,
paré manyara from the forehead,
paré seukeut from the neck,
paré geték from the †_ _ _†
(paré) †_ _†–y from the arms,
paré tanggay from the (?),
paré jalawara from the breast,
paré baur from the chest,
paré beunteur from the navel,
paré ? from ?

Very interesting, right?
It's enough for today. Tomorrow I will post the identification of the mentioned rice species as far I found.
See you tomorrow!
Anyway, this is the page contains names of rice grown from the limbs of Dewi Sri.
