Day 3 with "Kawih Katanian"

Here is the transliteration of the page from yesterday's post.
I found at least four variety names of the rice matched in the Dictionary of Sunda Language of Java. Even the descriptions are not detail, but at least I can get information about the color and 'beard'.

You can read the dictionary here: en.wikisource.org/wiki/A_Diction…
The four names are included as the "pare huma", the rice that grows in dry field! This is important evidence that Sundanese residents have been cultivating various types of rice in the past. Mostly, in the "huma" not "sawah".
Here is the detailed description of "huma(h)" field by Johnathan Rigg's Dictionary:
Humah, a piece of forest cut down, and burnt off, and on the ground so cleared, a plantation of Paddy is made by dibbling in the seed. The word is probably derived from Huah for Buah fruit, and Mah, spot, place. A humah is called in Batavian Malay, Gaga and on Sumatra, Ladang.
Today we still can find the traditional 'huma' paddy cultivation in the Baduy People (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baduy_peo…) and Kasepuhan Ciptagelar community (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasepuhan).
I like the taste of huma paddy indeed! It is fluffier and has more noticeable fiber texture. 😁👍
At the end of the story, the soul of Sang Srikandi Dangdayang Trusnawati, the goddess of rice, returned to the kahyangan in peace.

After the story end, the text is continued with several mantras of cultivating. I will tell two of them.
Ø this is for planting seed, the mantra "tangta tangtu, hurip jati hindu bwana †…†-keun ti tangtu, hurip jati hidu bwanna", then grow the plants, tuber roots are like gems, roots are like wires, the tree is like a red jewel,
the frond is like silver, the leaves are like a silk scarf, the flower is like gold, the fruit is like gold jewel, "pwah manglupa manglupih, aci alas aci désa, maka sa-†...†
Ø ini pakeun dipipit, pun pasadwaan kami mipuhun mipit, Aci Pwah Sanghyang Sri, Aci Alas Aci †...† sang gunung sang rumbut, sang Mahaméru éta nu ngeusian inya, lun témbong tutuhhanana mipulung acina †...†.
Ø this is (the mantra) for harvesting, we ask permission to harvest to, Sanghyang Sri, Aci Alas Aci †...† sang gunung sang rumbut, sang Mahaméru, it is he who lives in it, if it shows traces of cutting, then the essence gathered...
let us postpone the story here,
then we will continue tomorrow....
