One to watch later - how many Conservative MPs will back an amendment on food standards and trade policy. Not that anyone's expecting government to lose, but the number will provide an indication of their scope for negotiation. Oddly big rebellion is not necessarily bad for gov..
Our Parliament won't agree to that is a line commonly used by trade negotiators. Sometime credibly and effectively, sometimes less. UK government faces some difficulty using the line as it won't currently give Parliament a vote on agreements but that could and should change.
A surprisingly detailed argument against today's amendment on food standards. Debatable, but another time. For let's face it this is about whether the UK in one way or another should change food standards to let in US food not currently allowed.
About 20 Conservative MPs rebelled on agriculture and trade. 'About' because looks like some in error...

This is more important than the content of the amendment. You can reckon at least same number expressed concerns.
On this basis, as others have previously predicted, there may well not be a parliamentary majority for a US trade deal affecting UK food / farmers.
