NHS Labs Were Frozen Out Of Coronavirus Testing Programme, Says Top Scientist | HuffPost UK

1/. The Gov has not ONCE got anywhere close to tearing 100k people a day
2/ BONKERS to exclude the organisations closely linked into patient reporting systems huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/nhs-labs…
It isn’t just processing a swab in a lab.

ESPECIALLY with a highly infectious disease it is about end to end, super fast reporting systems.

As it is the new labs are NOT closing the result reporting loop to GPs and local public health who have to follow through on flare ups.
The Institute of Biomedical Sciences (eg NHS molecular Labs) says they believe testing centres could have been set up at GP surgeries, which already have existing links with NHS labs, creating a local testing network nearer to people’s homes.
“We have decades of experience of doing high volume, high quality, high throughput testing, that exists across the networks and all across the UK, and yet that just seems to have been ignored,” said Wilson.
“So if you’d actually had a very different approach and just asked the NHS to do it, we could have formed those local partnerships.”
It would have been easier for patients but, critically, have been more efficient at closing the absolutely critical information loop feeding into contact tracing and compliance
But when you have arrogant people whose self belief far exceeds their knowledge, pushing to direction of contracting they do not contract for the full joined up information systems and processes necessary to deliver what is needed.
