Estimating the burden of SARS-CoV-2 in France | Science

If you are banking on community infection delivering herd immunity on its own, this French study suggests you are likely to be disappointed.

science.sciencemag.org/content/early/…
People infected, representing 4.4% (range: 2.8–7.2) of the French population (Fig. 3E).

This proportion will be 9.9% (range: 6.6–15.7) in Ile-de-France, which includes Paris,

and 9.1% (range: 6.0–14.6) in Grand Est, the two most affected regions of the country
That seems similar to the conclusions drawn in Spain too.

Even hard hit Madrid coming in at about 11% with the average being less than half that.

Altho’ there have been claims that Stockholm had 25% antibodies that was based on modelling. This serology study suggests that just 7.5% had antibodies.

That will be something of a blow if true.
