/ We know that Covid-19 has been devastating to some industries: air travel, hotels, live events, physical retail, oil. We know it has benefitted others: supermarkets, collaborative tools, restaurant delivery, athleisurewear. There are some other "future positives" ...
/ Acceptance of technologies we know will benefit society are accelerating post Covid-19. some examples: Telemedicine an obvious benefit for doctors & patients. Rules, regs & habits being transformed
/ We know it isn't cost-effective or best for students to be confined to expensive, physical-access-only educational facilities. Covid-19 will bring difficult transformations to existing education but we knew this would happen eventually. The future state will be better
/ We know that we need to reduce reliance on cars in urban environments for climate, air quality, congestion & safety. Covid-19 is accelerating cities pushing for more bikes, scooters, walking zones. All across Italy, next France, now London: itv.com/news/london/20…
/ The world wastes nearly 50% of all produce it creates & needlessly consumes water to produce it. Covid-19 puts stresses on the system but is accelerating systems to help better preserve & transport fresh produce to people (see: @apeelsciences)
/ I know immediate story about business & Covid-19 is bad, as it should be. But I'm already seeing the seeds of the future in the creative destruction. I remain optimistic that changes ushered in will benefit all of our futures. It sometimes takes a crisis to accelerate change
