We’ve been in Phase 1 for less than week. We are continuing to monitor our data, but as I mentioned last week, it will take a minimum of 2 weeks for the data to reflect any impacts of the Phase 1 reopening...
That's why I will continue to emphasize that while we are in this current phase, we must remain vigilant and continue to take steps to safeguard ourselves and our loves ones against this virus. #StaySafeStayOpen
Now let's do a current data update:
We are currently on day 20 of a downward trajectory of our cumulative percentage of people testing positive. Right now, about 9% of people who we have been tested in the NV have tested positive.
According to the @NVHospitals, #COVID19 hospitalizations have continued to drop over the past 14 day period, & that the total number of COVID-19 hospitalizations are not significantly impacting the Nevada hospital system at this time.
We continue to expand our testing capacity thanks to the @NVNationalGuard, the LEAP, local leaders, health authorities, and private sector partners. We're also moving forward w/ plans to increase our contract tracing resources statewide.
Next, I want to talk a little bit more about what we’ve seen so far in Phase 1. The NV Division of Industrial Relations is reporting that the majority of businesses are in general compliance with the rules. TY to the counties who are ensuring local businesses are in compliance.
TY to all the businesses and employers who are taking this seriously by reducing the number of people in their businesses at once, finding creating solutions so staff can practice social distancing and for adhering to the requirement that your staff wear face coverings.
While the majority of our businesses are doing a great job, we all know there are some that are not in compliance right now. Local governments, OSHA & regulatory authorities are monitoring reopenings, investigating noncompliance complaints and taking action where necessary.
We know this virus is not gone, so it’s up to us to take care of ourselves and one other and follow the rules, regulations & guidelines. We are still monitoring results from this first phase, but we know if we stay safe, we can stay open.
My staff, the LEAP, state agencies & biz leaders are already working together to provide recommendations on the Phase 2 reopening. Our goal is to continue reopening more of our economy in a safe & responsible manner. What we do now will determine when we can do next.
We will continue to actively monitor the progress in Phase 1. Our data is promising so far, but it’s too early to make any new determinations as it does not yet reflect any impacts of our initial reopening. We must stay the course and remain vigilant.
