Letter fails to state any legitimate cause for firing the IG.
When Trump fired Intel IG Atkinson, @ChuckGrassley complained that Trump’s stated reason -loss of confidence in Atkinson- was not legally sufficient. But Trump gave the same non reason for firing State IG Linick. What’s Grassley doing about it? politico.com/news/2020/04/0…
On Atkinson, Trump blew off @ChuckGrassley, the self-styled protector of IGs, by refusing to state a cause. Then Grassley kissed Trump’s ass on the Senate floor by repeating Trump’s “ObamaGate” lies about Flynn. Trump then ignored Grassley again and fired Linick without cause.
Holy shit. Big challenge to Congress here. Let this go and might as well get rid of IGs.

Fox New's John Roberts asked Pence what went wrong with his promise to have four million tests available by mid-March. Pence said Roberts was confused because Pence only meant tests would exist, not that they'd be completed. Amazing.
When Pence said on 3/10 that four million tests would be distributed by the end of that week, the obvious implication was that they'd be completable. He's now faulting reporters for quoting his own bullshit. "What you fail to understand, John, is that I had my fingers crossed."
My mistake, that was ABC News' @jonkarl who asked. Was listening but not watching.

Rep. Katie Porter writing the cost of testing on a white board while grilling the CDC's Redfield.
Porter got Redfield, after he punted several times, to agree that CDC would cover the costs of coronavirus testing for all Americans, regardless of whether they have health insurance: "I think you're an excellent questioner so my answer is yes." c-span.org/video/?470277-…
Part of what's good about this is Porter's recognition that a congressional hearing is theater. It's for public consumption. She used a prop to communicate the cost of tests and the public setting to get Redfield to commit. Kind of ideal oversight. motherjones.com/politics/2020/…
