POTUS: “No matter where you look, this is something that is an invisible enemy.”
Trump, falsely: “We have a problem that a month ago nobody ever thought about.”
Weird that Trump today did not deploy his proven method of making up a Google website to goose the market.

A few days ago I did a thread explaining how rich Chinese exile Guo Wengui concocted a false claim that that US is closing its embassy in China. Guo did that to try to promote his largely fictional "New Federal State of China" and associated nonprofits/businesses.
Today, Steve Bannon dutifully went along with his boss Guo's lie, calling the totally false notion that the US is closing its embassy in Beijing "a huge step for the New Federal State of China." Bannon surely knows the embassy is not closing. He's lying. gettr.com/post/pr1kny4943
What actually happened is that the US diplomatic mission in China asked the State Department to allow the "authorized departure" of US embassy staff/families who want to avoid strict Covid-19 measures ahead of the Olympics. cnn.com/2022/01/26/chi…

Amid a pressure campaign, Squire Patton Boggs finally cut ties with a Saudi office implicated in Jamal Khashoggi's murder. Only took three years. motherjones.com/politics/2021/…
In February, an ODNI report directly implicated the Saudi Center for Studies and Media Affairs and its former head, MBS aide Saud al-Qahtani, in Khashoggi's murder. dni.gov/files/ODNI/doc…
As @BenFreemanDC pointed out at the time, and we reported, Squire Patton Boggs was at that time a registered foreign agent for the Saudi Center for Studies and Media Affairs, under a contract signed with Qahtani himself. motherjones.com/politics/2021/…

Giuliani tried to make a movie about the Bidens and Ukraine. Now the FBI is investigating that too. motherjones.com/politics/2021/…
“The thing I took away from it was, ‘Jesus, these guys are morons.'” motherjones.com/politics/2021/…
Giuliani expected to be in the film, but his main role was to use his celebrity to help raise money from conservative donors, according to people involved. He was paid more than $200,000 and use of a private jet for this. motherjones.com/politics/2021/…

After his 6/20/19 interview, Barrack’s spokesman said that "Barrack’s lawyer had again contacted the prosecutors’ office and 'confirmed they have no further questions for Mr. Barrack.'"
Didn't hold up well. nytimes.com/2019/07/28/us/…
"The defendants, using their positions of power and influence in a presidential election year, engaged in a conspiracy to illegally advance and promote the interests of the United Arab Emirates in this country..." justice.gov/opa/pr/former-…
Spokesman for Barrack: “Mr. Barrack has made himself voluntarily available to investigators from the outset. He is not guilty and will be pleading not guilty.”

He still works for BGR, as he did while serving as special envoy to Ukraine. motherjones.com/politics/2021/…
Volker, it seems, overtly lied in his public Nov '19 testimony (not just in his Oct. deposition justsecurity.org/67314/chart-si…) And he lied about knowing that Giuliani had pushed Ukraine for a quid pro quo: investigate Biden and you get normal relations. motherjones.com/politics/2019/…
Even now, this still matters. Volker misled not just Congress but the public about the Ukraine scandal. And his phony claims muddled the already confusing issue and fed the idea that there is no truth, just partisan assertion.
