The first is subtle, hard to diagnose & misconstrued as productivity while being the opposite:
Addiction to distraction
The second can be environmental and affects so many that it’s normalized:
Addiction to suffering
1/5
In the middle of a meeting, a paper etc, you grab your phone to “check something”.
Seems like addiction to social media but remove social media, we still do it
A street with 2 gates locks one so that 2 lanes of cars must squeeze through & cause traffic. Reason: “improved security”.
IT IS A LIE
If we don’t suffer, we aren’t happy
3/5
E.g. Being distracted is “woke” and concentrating is “lame”.
4/5
“Why should a child use the generator to put on the a/c just because it is hot??? That’s a spoilt child”
But If the country worked, would we care about gens? 5/5
Imagine a nation led by a generation of citizens addicted, without knowing, to distraction and suffering via poverty
Imagine that they will spend resources to ensure suffering is a culture and even be distracted while doing it.
Don’t imagine, just look at the chaos!
Like most addictions, it’s a matter of mental health and you need professional help
