Does "gender fluidity" teaching in schools lead to any cases of overdiagnosis of gender dysphoria ("born in the wrong body") and life-altering medical interventions in children's hospital gender clinics? theaustralian.com.au/nation/parents… @australian #health #education #auspol | THREAD
In Queensland, Australia, education bureaucrats work to “strengthen relationships” with the Queensland Children's Hospital gender clinic — where under-18 patient numbers have risen 1,172% since 2014 — and liaise with a "Queensland Queering Education Consultative Committee".
In Victoria, the pioneer state for teaching fluidity, education minister James Merlino cites “confidentiality” when asked how many under-18s have been referred to the Royal Children’s Hospital gender clinic by GPs, trained by that clinic, under his Doctors in Schools program.
The RCH gender clinic has seen a 1,767% increase in under-18 patient numbers since 2012. theaustralian.com.au/nation/hunt-ke…
Gender clinics say trans identity is not driven by peer or online social contagion, and their caseloads are just a sign of more social acceptance plus awareness of new medical treatments such as hormone drugs and surgery. abc.net.au/news/2018-09-2…
In Western Australia, a state-approved brochure encourages teachers to allow students to change gender without parents’ approval, saying, "It may be possible to consider a student a mature minor and able to make decisions (about social transition) without parental consent”.
Under-18 patient numbers rose 305% over 2014-18 at the Perth Children's Hospital gender clinic.
The WA brochure comes from the Safe Schools program launched in Victoria in 2010, federally funded 2014-2017, still endorsed by the federal government & up on its education website. The stated rationale for this program is to stop bullying and suicide by promoting acceptance.
The Safe Schools material presents children as experts when their "gender identity" clashes with biology, and does not advise any therapeutic probing for mental illness, autism, awkward same-sex attraction or family trauma underlying a possible "false positive" trans declaration.
Program co-founder Roz Ward explains the Safe Schools approach “may seem complicated, but the (social) transition (of a student) is much more about the school transitioning than the student, because the student is just affirming who they really are”. safeschoolscoalition.org.au
Health and education ministers of Australian governments which endorse gender fluidity teaching as "inclusive" refuse to say whether or not they have sought briefings or asked for research on any link between this teaching and the surge of cases in gender clinics.
The Safe Schools Alliance in the UK is starkly different from the Oz program sharing that name. @SafeSchools_UK is critical of the current transgender push as a regressive promotion of gender stereotypes & potentially bad news for girls, lesbians and gays safeschoolsallianceuk.net/about/frequent…
State ministers in Australia who enable gender fluidity teaching ignore questions about its basis in science and decline to comment on the defence of biological sex by scientists internationally projectnettie.wordpress.com
