If you're using @codesignalcom's "Certify" product, allow me to showcase how profoundly abusive it is to the candidates you're supposedly attempting to woo.
It gives the candidate 1 hour to go through a set of coding challenges, which in turn are automatically graded. We'll skip past the part where "automated code evaluation" is far from a solved problem.
Here's where it gets shitty. The candidate has to upload a copy of their government ID to prove they are who they say they are. "You're probably lying" is a hell of a recruiting message to send early in the process.
It forces them to enable their microphone and camera, share their screen, forbids wearing headphones, and doesn't allow the candidate to leave their seat for the duration of the interview.
Senior candidates will NOPE right the hell out of there. Junior candidates... will think that this is normal, and that's not okay, and why I'm going off about this. It is not okay. Do not entertain companies that do this.
But junior candidates have no real voice, whereas apparently I do. So if you're interviewing with a company that uses this, or work for a company who does, please DM me, and I will drag them so hard you'll mistake me for a tractor.
