So @teamintricately has their 2020 Cloud Hosting Report out, and it's directly aligned with my interests. A livetweet reading thereof in this thread.
I honestly can't tell if this came out before COVID19, or they're incredibly good at understatement about "economic volatility." Either way, it works.
Their methodology seems odd to me. I mean yes, fine, you can get a hazy view of some aspects for web properties, but "we manage 4 exabytes of data in S3" is generally only visible internally. Maybe "a mole at a company" is considered a proprietary global sensor?
"We monitor 21,000 distinct cloud products" demonstrates that @teamintricately is approaching 80% coverage for @awscloud services!
I'm certain nobody will object to these definitions.

I kid. Objecting to these definitions is what 95% of most analyst engagements center around.
Customer counts with and without GSuite, Office365, and in a heroic effort to keep a straight face, Amazon WorkDocs.
And in 2025, validation that overpaying for a company in decline might also not be enough to catch a cloud leader will also be demonstrated.
This is the first of three @ajassy pull quotes in the report.

I've seen articles of interviews with him that featured fewer.
This feels directionally correct to me based upon the anecdata I've seen.
Their "huge spend" starts at $1.2 million a year. Um... my perspective on this diverges wildly.
It's gotta be an "oof" moment when they have to compress the market leader's scale to fit with the rest of the market.
"72% of @awscloud customers have less than 10 employees." I wonder if they're counting a customer as "an account" which Organizations is going to skew massively?
"1% of @awscloud customers are enterprises" rings false to me unless they're somehow counting "every employee's test account" as a distinct entity.
"Gartner predicts that public cloud revenue will grow by 17% in 2020."

I'm predicting we're going to revisit this in a year and laugh about it.
Either @teamintricately is lying about @awscloud being a customer, or they're about to lose a customer for using the deprecated DO NOT EVER USE THIS version of their logo. It's unclear which.
In conclusion, this report comes down to either useful insight into the market, or a complete waste of time--based ENTIRELY upon how well you trust their proprietary assessment algorithms. They also call out AWS and GCP explicitly as customers so... one wonders.
