If you study the two graphs carefully, you will see that the number of daily tests doubles over a couple of days, then goes up again.
It's impossible for the infection to halve over the same period. It just doesn't work like that.
So where are all the missing positive cases?

What this would seem to indicate is that close to 100% of all the additional tests beyond the baseline set a few weeks ago are useless. They're either lost in the post, improperly administered, or going to the wrong people (e.g. Tory party members, thanks to that mailshot).
No way are we are aware of every infection! Experts agree that the tests are only picking up a fraction of actual cases.
So why isn't the recent avalanche of tests reflecting this by turning up new positives?
