I feel like there isn’t high speed rail in America in large part because they couldn’t draw a straight line from one location to the other that only went through Black neighborhoods.
It’s not like the highway system, where the government actually did build highways that winded through (and demolished) predominantly Black areas and avoided white areas wherever possible. High speed trains, by contrast, need to accelerate along a relatively straight track/line.
