Thats where to money is.
Why is money important here?

The pet food industry is a billion dollar industry.
Competition is tight.
They want you.
"The Australia Pet Food Market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 2.7% during the forecast period (2020-2025)".

Growing market.
More discerning consumers.
Hot competition for a slice of your pet pocket.
Increase demand for natural.
Increase demand for pet health.
So a billion dollar industry combined with pet owners wanting a better life for their cat.

Lets look at what one of the top brands says connects cat with better life (apart from nutrition)
This is a packet in my own pantry.

"see your vet regularly"

Thats it.
Before anyone says "they cant put messages about appropriate consumer behaviour on the packet"

this is on the same packet.

So the people behind the litter campaign are IN.
The people behind the "save our wildlife" are not. Yet.
Another brand another packet.
Bin man gets a run here too.

Both brands are about the food & it providing a domestic cat
with a "healthy & happy life".
Clean water.
See your vet.

So back to start.
Theres acres of opportunity for the people advocating for better cat management to prevent biodiversity loss
to connect with these ultra competitive brands and get the education messages into homes.
Teach cat owners what to do.

People will change a behaviour if educated about the consequences of not changing it.
It takes money & market penetration to achieve that education, day after day, week after week.
Every cat owner.
Every where.

I support & encourage a consortium of orgs to connect
and petition the top selling cat food brands in Australia to all start telling their product buyers what "doing the right thing" by wildlife looks like.
Website dedicated.
Online enclosure plans & practical guides.
Vet interviews.
Extinction expert interviews.
Research data.
We need to turn this around.

Instead of making councils, park managers, other pet or non pet owners, & our wildlife
carry the costs & impacts of a population thats able to be influenced, lets make doing it right THE NEW WAY.

The pet food industry influence is HUGE.
Ask them.
