In 1993 Kim Sam-Seok (KIM), Yoon's husband, & KIM's sister were indicted for violation of SK's National Security Law; in particular, receiving cash from Hantongryeon (재일한국민주통일연합), a front for #DPRK, & transferring mil. secrets to NK during several visits to Japan. 2/

KIM reportedly received 600,000 Yen (roughly USD 6000 USD) & Ms. Kim 200,000 Yen. In July 1994, a Superior Court sentenced KIM to 4 years imprisonment. Ms Kim got 3 year suspended sentence (2 year probation with no jail term). Both defendants appealed to the Supreme Court. 3/

Supreme CT dismissed appeal on Oct 25, 1994. 4 days later, a former KCIA informant named BAEK Heung-Yong, while on a visit to Germany, held a press conference, claiming to be "whistle blower." Mr. Baek claimed he had framed the Kims upon orders from the KCIA & KIM's innocent. 4/

To this day, KIM & wife stick to Baek's story: KIM & sis were framed by the KCIA, as Baek "proved."

Curiously, in Dec 1994 Baek & his wife defected to the #DPRK. They have not been heard from since. Baek's words therefore about as credible as #KimJongIl saying KIM's clean. 5/

KIM was released from jail Sep 1997. In Feb 1998, the newly-elected President Kim Dae Jung pardoned & "reinstated" KIM, that is, politically "purified" KIM as an honorable man. In July 2003 KIM was appointed--get this--"Civilian Investigator" in a newly created nat'l org for 6/

for investigating questionable deaths (committee defunct since 2002). Official name: Presidential Truth Commission on Suspicious Deaths. As an "investigator," KIM investigated over 35 senior members of the ROK military. KIM even summoned 9 colonels and higher ups, including 7/

a former Defense Minister, a general, & a former national assemblyman, as well as a sitting head of the Defense Security Command (ROK Military Intel). The latter resisted despite having been served 5 summons. Still KIM persisted. Only when press took interest did KIM desist. 8/

In 2004 KIM sued #ParkGeunHye, head of Grand National Party, @Chosun columnist Kim Dae Jung (no rels to prez by same name above), & the Chosun Ilbo itself for criminal defamation re: above matter. Park & Kim had called the situation of a former convicted North Korean spy 9/

investigating the top military brass an absurd situation.

Jump to 2015. KIM & sis re-appealed the 1994 court order. In March 2016 a Superior CT found both guilty of receiving cash from the pro-North, anti-ROK org in Japan above. The charge of transferring mil secrets to NK 10/

was dismissed on procedural grounds. KIM got a 3 year suspended sentence and Ms. Kim a 2 year suspended sentence. They appealed to the Supreme CT. In May 2017 Supreme CT upheld the lower court's decision, reaffriming that KIM is a convicted former N Korean co-optee. BUT! 11/

A twist. Supreme CT awarded KIM 190,000,000 Won (nearly $180,000) in "prosecutorial compensation" for personal suffering, as it dismissed the prior conviction that KIM had transferred military secrets to North Korea. #MoonJaeIn was elected 05/09/2017. A new-old era dawned. 12/

In July 2018 Seoul Superior Court's award KIM's wife, Yoon Mee-Hyang, their daughter, & KIM's mother each a sum of 89,000,000 Won (nearly $87,000) for "suffering" for the prior wrongful verdict that KIM was a NK spy who had transferred military secrets to North Korea. 13/

By the way, Ms. Yoon sent #DPRK condolences on the occasion of Kim Jong Il's "sudden and sad death" in Dec 2011 on behalf of the Korean Council, the NGO whose purported mission is to support elderly former victims but scammed them & donors. $Millions unaccounted for today. 14/

In June 2019 KIM was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment for blackmailing 16 universities 2013-2018. KIM allegedly asked Unis for private information on individuals. When Unis balked, KIM threatened to sue them. Somehow KIM managed to pocket about $50,000 (60,330,000 Won) over 15/

some 25 "transactions" with the schools. What did the universities have to hide? Why submit to blackmail?
