THREAD: #RIPPrekshaMehta

Preksha was only 25, an actress, and severely depressed, let that sink in.

The heartbreaking suicide of Preksha Mehta is proof that not everyone can understand the pain behind a smile. We need to talk about mental health more.
A smile can be misleading, just because someone seems to have their life together, is seldom the case. No matter how lavish someone’s life may seem on social/mainstream media, there’s more than what meets the eye!
We also need to stop being dismissive by saying things like, “You’re being over dramatic” or “Don’t think too much” or “It’s okay, others have it worse. You’re privileged.”

CAN WE PLEASE STOP BEING THIS WAY? FFS, BE THERE FOR THE PEOPLE YOU CARE ABOUT! LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER!
#MentalHealthAwareness is so fucking important! We need it more than ever! Please just be there for people! Just talk to someone!!!!!
And for people thinking those who commit suicide are weak, let me explain something to you from personal experience.

You DO NOT know the amount of strength it takes to end your life, even taking a step towards ending your life.
Thinking of the people you love, the happy memories, the things you’ll leave behind, but suddenly that despair rushes in where you start believing what people have said about you. Your confidence is plummeting.
You don’t want to hurt the people you love, but constantly faking a smile and letting everyone believe that you’re happy, is torturous. You can’t speak about these problems because “others have it worse than you.”

Yes, they do, but what about my life and my depression?
These are the thoughts that came to be before I overdosed in 2007. I would not have been alive if my parents hadn’t gotten to me in time.

Depression is a slow poison, but what’s worse is that by talking about it, people think we’re cribbing or complaining.
FFS STOP THIS TOXIC BEHAVIOUR! STOP DISMISSING PEOPLE AND THEIR EMOTIONS!
