.@andrewrsorkin The 100K includes deaths with Covid; not just of Covid. Includes probable cases. Includes THOUSANDS of deaths caused by insane policies at hospitals/nursing homes that were implemented as result of panic that was rooted in flawed models. Thank you @JoeSquawk.
The world was shutdown under the assumption that Covid’s death rate is 1.00% to 3.40% of cases. Per the CDC’s paper last week, it is 0.26.
For context, the flu is 0.10%.

@kevincorke @JoeSquawk @andrewrsorkin In NY people were told that if they feel symptoms they should stay home. Er, something is attacking the body. Give it a medication to hit back. Nooo. Stay home not to overwhelm the system. Result? Got worse. More people needed the hospital!
When you got to the hospital, there was mayhem becasue “WE NEED 40K ICU BEDS IN 14-21 DAYS” (I tweeted at the time that it does not add up). This clown expectation led to change in protocols as how to treat patients. Staff also kept changing again and again and again because,
according to the panic, everyone will get Coronavirus and everyone will die. This delayed care! Older staff were sent away because being above 60 means you will DIE. This contributed to more chaos and likely to more deaths which was more proof as to how deadly this is... Family
was banned from hospitals. This left abandoned people who while home healthy need the care/love from spouses and chidlren, yet here they had NO ONE. The overworked staff scared to go into Covid rooms, left people alone. Any wonder so many deep seniors died? PANIC created DEATH!
So @andrewrsorkin. The outcome of Covid is hardly a vindication that your freak out was correct. As outlined above with just a few samples, the panic created a mess (and death). @JoeSquawk is on point. BTW, speak to EMS as to what percent of calls in March/early April was PANIC!
29K more people died in Jan 2018 than the average deaths of the surrounding 4 Januaries. That’s 1K more deaths a DAY for a MONTH but nobody noticed it at the time. Imagine we created Covid-style panic/policy in Dec 2017 ahead of this spike? Numbers would likely be WAY worse!
