The entire global internet is hosted across more or less 13 servers found in the United States, for more than a decade the US government has put systems in place to create an internet kill switch, private companies can in theory resist but not in practice.
For example, anyone can hold up a VPN network, however, if the FBI knocks on your door and physically encourages you to shut it down, then that's the end of that.
If Trump goes through with his little fantasy (which he has all the legal authority in the U.S. to do, despite dumbass blue twitter claiming it's illegal because they don't pay attention.) then, of course, Anonymous is going to work hard to counter this.
They have accepted 100,000 dead in weeks so far, we are sure they'll accept a Twitter being taken down. We don't see USians rallying in significant numbers. Facebook will fill any gaps left by Twitter, which is why Zuckerberg is collaborating with the GOP.
