1/6 Open letter to Matt Hancock re #civicduty

Here are some thoughts on how to encourage people to exercise their #civicduty and engage with Track and Trace. The over-riding principle is that the government must first exercise its own #civicduty to people. More specifically:
2/6 The government should admit:
- Government negligence and misconduct in February and March caused thousands of preventable deaths
- Science was selected to fit government policy and not the other way round
3/6 The government should admit:
- The government has routinely misled and lied to people
- Ministers and advisors have not always followed the standards that they have asked people to follow
4/6 The government should publish:
- Details of all public sector contracts awarded outside the normal tendering process since July 2019
- The report on Russian interference in UK elections
- Details of IDOX’s role in the 2019 general election
5/6 Normally, most of us would:
- Have some sympathy for the challenges which ministers have faced over the last few months
- Engage with Track and Trace and other government initiatives
6/6 However, because the government hasn’t yet exercised its #civicduty, many of us are reluctant to exercise our #civicduty. It would feel like we are aiding and abetting criminals.

PS I’ve attached a poster which you may wish to pass on to your colleagues.
