Three types of Nigerians: a) those who believe in Nigeria as is, no questions asked, believing perhaps that a country’s purpose is simply to exist, whatever its state; b) those who believe in it, know it’s troubled but think it can be fixed; c) those for who Nigeria is past-tense
I find that many Nigerians move in and out of these three groups. Some start from (a) and move to (b). Some fluctuate between (b) and (c). I believe we can fix Nigeria, but only if we are honest, and agree on what it means for and to all it’s citizens.
We should not be so despondent, but we must not be complacent about the task ahead and what it requires of us all, in particular those who influence our country’s politics, economy, and its constitutional foundation.
