Talked to my Mom tonight. She is an absolute Rush Limbaugh conservative.
But she is 80, trapped in the house and has been watching to CNN.

Here is what she "knows":

She had no idea Cuomo ordered nursing homes to accept COVID patients. She literally did not believe me.

She had no idea that 1/3-1/2 of all deaths happened in nursing homes.

She thought COVID was as bad everywhere as it is in NY.

She had no idea NY didnt start cleaning their subways until March.

She was certain that Florida and Texas were having a spike in cases since reopening. She was angry at me, Floridian, because she thought my state would be responsible for longer quarantine.

She had no idea NY and NJ account for 1/3 of all deaths.

No clue that 1/2 of all deaths occurred in 5 states.

This is a smart woman. She has always questioned main stream news, until now.

Being quarantined means she has the tv on all the time. TV news... all of it... is sensationliast fear porn.

Funny how COVID isnt even a thing right now. Did it magically disappear?

No. But what did disappear is the ability for the media to use it to make people terrified any longer. Country is opening up. People are getting back to normal. We've seen the numbers. We accept the risks.

Rather convenient that they suddenly have new thing for us to be terrified of...
