The media's histrionics are about 2 things:
1. They are terrified of the public seeing that private industry is far more effective and efficient than govt.

They need private industry to fail because they need to show that only government can protect you.
They need this pandemic to be deadly and uncontained because otherwise Trump will be able to claim the win.

They're desperate for the economy to tank, unemployment to rise because they can claim it as a failure of Capitalism.
They're angry because if it weren't for Trump, they would be using CV as a Trojan horse to ram their "New Deal" redux down the throat of the American people.

Everything to date has shown the massive inefficiencies of a large, centralized government.
CV has shown that bottom up leadership is most effective. It's proven Federalism right insomuch as when local leaders are competent, they're unequivocally best to react to emergencies.
