L Garratts were a typical Beyer Garratt of the day.
Withdrawn 1930s but returned to service 1943-45.
Both scrapped

Designed for express passenger trains.

Unusual, only 8 cylinder Garratts ever made.

M1 and M2 were withdrawn some time after the arrival of the R class ‘Pacifics’ in 1924. They were very maintenance intensive.
Both scrapped.

Each bogie had the four cylinders arranged abreast, each outside one driven by Walschaerts, each inside counterpart operated by Gresley conjugated gear. All drove the leading coupled axles.

TGR 8 new and another 6 second-hand from the Queensland Railways.
Two were sold to the Emu Bay Railway with the remainder scrapped in the late 1950s.

The ASGs did better in Tasmania than the mainland states.
Maybe cooler weather helped as heat in the cab major issue in Qld.
