In light of recent events, myself and a friend have decided to write to as many schools as possible, as well as the government, demanding a change. Specifically with regards to the way Britain’s colonial past is taught—or rather not taught—in schools. But first I need your help:

As the main perpetrators of colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade, this country has blood on its hands, but chooses to hide its colonial past behind glorification and national pride. Racism is just as institutional and systematic here in the U.K. as it is in the U.S.
For example, reparations paid to slave owners for their “””loss of property””” were being paid using tax payer’s money until 2015. But this is rarely talked about. And we believe the failure lies to a significant extent in our education system.
At this point, the education system, and all the teachers who choose not to teach these subjects (and it is a choice), are complicit in a system that actively upholds racist ideologies and allows white supremacy to stay entrenched in the minds of the people.
These systems are responsible for educating our Prime Ministers, MPs, policemen and countless others in positions of power. With this survey we aim to gather data on the true state of Britain’s curriculum as it pertains to the country’s Imperial past and the associated atrocities
